The Ukrainian military has launched an offensive against Russian forces in several directions, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Anna Malyar, announced on June 24.

Malyar said that the offensive is underway in the direction of Orekhovo-Vasilyevka, Bakhmut, Bogdanovka, Yagodnoye, Kleshcheevka, Kurdyumovka. She also claimed that fighting was still ongoing near Kupyansk, Liman, Maryinka, Avdeevska, Shakhtyorsk and other southern directions.

“There is progress in all directions,” the Ukrainian official claimed.

However, no meaningful advance by Kiev forces was reported in any direction. In addition, footage from the battlefield showed more Ukrainian human and material losses in the Zaphorozhey, Donetsk and South Donetsk sectors.

Two new videos showed artillery and drone strikes on Ukrainian positions and vehicles in Avdeevka. A third video showed two American-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles being hit by artillery fire near Orekhov. Another one showed the destruction of an American-made M777 howitzer in Zelenovka.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also shared a video showing the destruction of a Ukrainian ammunition depot near Kupyansk with a high-precision weapon.

In addition, Ukrainian sources shared photos showing some of the NATO-supplied equipment which were destroyed in recent battles near Orekhov, including German-made Leopard 2 main battle tanks and Bradley vehicles. Other photos that surfaced online showing Ukrainian human losses in an unspecified direction.

Ukraine launched its so-called spring counteroffensive on June 4. Since then, its forces have suffered heavy losses and made few gains on the ground.

The new wave of attacks by Kiev forces do not appear to be going according to the plan. However, the counteroffensive will likely continue due to political pressure Kiev is facing from its backers who have provided dozens of billions in military aid since the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
