Israel has received staunch bipartisan support from the Democratic and Republican Parties in Washington, as it brutally bombs Gaza; invades Lebanon; and attacks Iran, Syria, and Yemen.
The Biden-Harris administration has sent Israel at least $17.9 billion in arms and military aid since October 2023.
Meanwhile, UN experts say Israel is guilty of genocide, and Tel Aviv is being investigated by the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide.
The International Criminal Court has also applied for arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of crimes against humanity, including “extermination” and “starvation of civilians as a method of warfare as a war crime”.
A group of 99 North American doctors, surgeons, nurses, and medical professionals who have served in Gaza in the past year published an open letter to the Biden-Harris administration, demanding an arms embargo on Israel. They wrote, “It is likely that the death toll from this conflict is already greater than 118,908, an astonishing 5.4% of Gaza’s population”.
While Israel continues bombing civilian areas in Gaza with US-made weapons, it has simultaneously launched a full-scale invasion of Lebanon. Israel has sent four combat divisions across the northern border, numbering at more than 20,000 troops, according to the Financial Times.
The White House encouraged Israel to invade Lebanon, Politico reported. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stated clearly that, “yes, we do support Israel launching these incursions” into Lebanon, in the name of destroying Hezbollah – which was itself born out of the resistance against Israel’s illegal invasion of Lebanon in 1982, and its subsequent two-decade-long military occupation.
