The ammonia pipeline was depressurized as a result of strikes near Kupyansk in Kharkov region.

The Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline goes through the region as well as Zaporozhye, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Odessa regions. Transit through the pipeline has been stopped since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.

The resumption of transit through the pipeline was a part of the grain deal. However, Kyiv has been sabotaging this.

Kyiv authorities insist that according to preliminary data, no ammonia was found in the air in Kupyansk and there is no threat of the spread of hazardous substances. At the same time, photos from the ground raise doubts regarding these claims.

Expectedly, Kyiv blamed Russia for the incident with the pipeline. The accusations followed reports that a battle tank of Kyiv’s forces was spotted directly shelling the pipeline. Furthermore, the resumption of transit through the pipeline is something that Kyiv strictly opposes.
