While the Ukrainian offensive has stalled in the Zaporozhye region and all front lines remain unchanged, inflamed by positional battles, the warring sides are exchanging strikes in strategic rear areas. The Russian military continues the successful destruction of Ukrainian military facilities with precision strikes throughout the country. In their turn, Kiev’s forces continue their attempts to break through the Russian air defense and reach at least some targets on the Russian Crimean peninsula.
On the night and morning of June 15, the Ukrainian military targeted Crimea with nine UAVs. According to the local officials, Russian air defense forces intercepted six drones, three more were suppressed and planted by the electronic warfare means.
Later, the local sources reported that in total, 11 Ukrainian UAVs targeted the peninsula. All od them intercepted in the western part of Crimea. Five UAVs were reportedly shot down by the air defense means near the villages of Kotovsky and Novoozerny. Six others were suppressed by electronic warfare means near Razdolny, Lake Donuzlav, capes of Tarkhankut and Peschany.
One of the UAVs exploded near the village of Dokuchaevo in the Krasnogvardeysky district of Crimea. As a result, several houses were slightly damaged.
There were no casualties as a result of the attack. The Ukrainian military again failed to hit any of their targets.
Explosion in Kharkiv:
Meanwhile, an air alert sounded several times throughout Ukraine overnight, while Russian kamikaze UAVs and missiles were targeting military facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Ukrainian media and local officials confirmed that explosions thundered in the cities of Odessa and Krivoy Rog as well as in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Sumy regions. Ukrainian authorities again urged civilians not to film the work of Ukrainian air defence forces as well as any damage to the Ukrainian facilities.
Despite the attempts of the Ukrainian authorities, damage to at least one industrial facility in the city of Krivoy Rog was confirmed by the footage. The targets was likely an industrial enterprise used by the AFU to repair the damaged military equipment.
Russian strikes continue amid the ongoing Ukrainian ‘counteroffensive’. The facilities of the AFU used to store military equipment, ammunition as well as the military personnel are the prime targets for Russian missiles and UAVs. The Ukrainian military is yet to protect its facilities in the eastern and central regions where the reinforcements of the AFU are deployed. Russian forces are successfully destroying their targets on a daily basis. Perhaps, the reason is the redeployment of numerous Ukrainian air defence systems closer to the front lines in order to cover the offensive operations of the AFU.
