On June 15, the Russian Ministry of Defense provided details on recent Ukrainian attacks and the losses Kiev forces sustained while attempting to advance in the special military operation zone.
The ministry said in a statement that Ukraine made new advance attempts in the Zaporozhye and south Donetsk directions in the past 24 hours.
In the area of the Vremevsky ledge, the Russian Vostok group of forces repelled two Ukrainian attacks near the settlements of Novopol in Donetsk and Levadne in Zaporozhye. Up to 25 Ukrainian troops and three tanks were destroyed.
Meanwhile, near the settlement of Novodarovka in Zaporozhye as well as the settlements of Neskuchnoe and Velikaya Novoselka in Donetsk, gatherings of manpower and equipment of the 128th territorial defense brigade, 31st mechanized and 1st tank brigades of Kiev forces were targeted.
In the Zaporizhzhya direction, Russian missile troops targeted the formations of the Ukrainian 47th mechanized brigade in the settlement of Lyubytske in Zaporozhye. An ammunition depot of the 65th Mechanized Brigade located near the settlement of Omelnik in the same region was also destroyed. In addition, the activities of the Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group near the settlement of Zagornoye were thwarted.
The total losses of Kiev forces in these directions amounted to 155 troops, three tanks, two armored combat vehicles, a French-made Cezar self-propelled howitzer, as well as Msta-B and D-30 howitzers, according to the ministry
Meanwhile, in the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug group of forces during the day repelled five Ukrainian attacks near the settlements of Razdolovka, Pervomayskoye, Krasnogorovka and Maryinka in Donetsk.
In the settlements of Artyomovo, Zvanovka, Vyemka and Avdiivka in Donetsk, the formations of the 24th, 54th and 110th mechanized brigades of Kiev forces were targeted with missile and air strikes. During the fighting in this direction, up to 340 Ukrainian troops, two armored combat vehicles, four vehicles, as well as a D-30 howitzer were destroyed.
Ammunition depots of the Ukrainian 24th mechanized, 79th air assault and 47th artillery brigades located in the settlements of Novomikhailovka, Novgorodskoe and Slavnoe in Donetsk were also targeted and destroyed.
The situation in other directions, according to the statement of the Russian MoD:
In the Kupyansk direction, operational-tactical and army aviation, artillery of the Zapad group of forces hit the enemy’s manpower and equipment in the areas of the settlements of Masyutovka, Molchanovo, Kislovka and Berestovoye of the Kharkov region.
Two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were destroyed in the areas of the settlements of Sinkovka in the Kharkiv region and Novoselovskoe in the Luhansk People’s Republic.
The losses of the enemy in this direction per day amounted to 30 Ukrainian servicemen, two vehicles, as well as the Msta-B howitzer.
In the Krasno-Limansky direction, air strikes, artillery fire of the Tsentr group of forces defeated enemy units in the areas of the settlements of Nevskoye, Chervonaya Dibrova of the Luhansk People’s Republic, as well as Serebryansky forestry.
In the areas of the settlements of Terny of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Kuzmino of the Lugansk People’s Republic, the activities of two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were stopped.
More than 50 Ukrainian servicemen, two armored combat vehicles, Akatsiya and Gvozdika self-propelled artillery mounts, as well as a D-30 howitzer were destroyed in a day.
In the Kherson direction, more than 35 Ukrainian servicemen, 11 vehicles, as well as Msta-B and D-30 howitzers were destroyed during the day as a result of fire damage.
Operational-tactical and army aviation, missile forces and artillery of groups of troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during the day defeated 105 artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at firing positions, manpower and military equipment in 132 districts. The command post of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was hit near the settlement of Kamyshevakh in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a Su-27 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force near the village of Krasnoarmeysk in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Ukrainian Su-27 fighter was shot down by means of air defense near the city of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic. During the day, five rockets of the HIMARS and Uragan multiple launch rocket systems were intercepted.
In addition, 25 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed in the areas of the settlements of Shipilovka of the Luhansk People’s Republic, Yelenovka, Spornoye, Zeleny Gay of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Removka, Novoye of the Zaporozhye region and Proletarka of the Kherson region.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 444 aircraft, 238 helicopters, 4,630 unmanned aerial vehicles, 426 anti-aircraft missile systems, 9,994 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,124 combat vehicles of multiple launch rocket systems, 5,121 field artillery pieces and mortars, and also 10964 units of special military vehicles.
In a separate statement, the Russian Tsentr group of forces announced that its aviation had carried out missile and air strikes against gatherings of manpower, fire positions, strongholds, and ammunition depots of Kiev forces in Krasny Liman direction.
The artillery of the group also hit the movement of units of the Ukrainian 63rd Mechanised Brigade near the settlement of Torskoye. Two D-30 and a Gvozdika howitzers were also destroyed by counter-battery fire.
In addition, an Osa-AKM air defense system shot down two Furia drones over the settlements of Rubezhnoye and Varvarovka.
Meanwhile, videos that surfaced online showed the destruction of a Ukrainian howitzer, reportedly an American-made M777, with a Lancet loitering munition as well as a couple of German-made Leopard 2 main battle tanks retreating somewhere in the Zaporozhye and south Donetsk directions.
The situation along the frontline in the special military operation zone remains under the control of the Russian military. However, internal and external political pressure will likely force Ukraine to launch more large attacks in the upcoming few weeks as a part of its so-called spring counteroffensive.
