Details Of Agreement With Wagner Which Put End To Rebellion Attempt

Late on June 24, Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian President, revealed details on the agreement which put an end to the rebellion attempt by Evgeny Prigozhin and the part of Wagner units that supported him.

According to Peskov, the criminal case opened by FSB against Prigozhin will be halted and he will leave Russia.

The spokesman revealed that Prigozhin “will go to Belarus.” He did not elaborate what the public fonder of Wanger will do there.

Wagner’s fighters that supported Prigozhin will not be persecuted, taking into account their actions during the ongoing special operation in Ukraine.

PMC contractors who refused to take part in the rebellion attempt (SF comment: a larger part of units of Wagner) will be allowed to sign contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry, Peskov stated.

Currently, units of Wagner are being returned to their field camps, according to the announcement of Prigozhin and videos, photos appearing online.

On June 24, Wagner units that supported Prigozhin captured HQ of Russia’s Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don city and started moving towards Moscow. Sporadic clashes between Russian security forces and Wagner units took place during the day.

The rebellion attempt was stopped in the second half of June 24. The aforementioned agreement was reached following talks between Prigozhin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The talks were agreed with Vladimir Putin. Reports say that participation in these talks was the initiative of Lukashenko.

As of the first half of June 25, the Russian federal road agency, Rosavtodor, told TASS news agency that most restrictions on traveling on roads and highways have been lifted. Some restrictions remain on the M4 highway that connects Moscow and cities in the south of Russia.

The situation in Rostov-on-Dom remains calm. Wagner units left the city.
