FAKE Army recruitment lures netizens to bogus website

A Facebook page (FB) posted and reshared a fake recruitment call supposedly from the Philippine Army. These posts redirect people to bogus websites filled with ads.

The sham posts appeared on June 2, carrying a graphic and the following text:

APPLY NOW! PHILIPPINE ARMY | HIRING K-12 GRADUATES | ELEMENTARY | HIGH SCHOOL | COLLEGE | NO AGE LIMIT

5.0 [feet] Height male and female

Single or married are welcome to apply

45,750 Salary monthly

Those are fake hiring calls.

Official recruitment calls and lists of successful candidates appear only on the Army Personnel Management Center’s official FB page. Those interested to join the Philippine Army may apply at jointhearmy.ph.

VERA Files Fact Check debunked another scam running a similar modus to get people’s information.

Contrary to the fake hiring posts, only single persons with no parental obligation may apply for the Army, according to the official Army enlistment page.

There’s also an age limit: army applicants must be at least 21 years old but not older than 27 years old, the enlistment page added.

The fake posts appeared two weeks after the Army Recruitment Office Luzon announced the 11th batch of successful candidate soldiers who will undergo physical and medical examinations.

FB page PRC Board News posted the bogus recruitment calls on two other FB groups, garnering a total of 1,142 reactions, 1,562 comments, and 10,009 shares.
