Farmers, land reform advocates staunchly say NO TO CHARTER CHANGE! – updates from the peasant movement of the Philippines

While ruling factions from the Duterte and Marcos camps continued with their sour bickering and power struggle, farmers, rural sectors, and land reform advocates strongly oppose the legislative’s economic Charter Change (ChaCha).

KMP, Amihan, Pamalakaya, UMA and peasant advocates from the youth sector and artists will patiently explain the perils of ChaCha and the farce Peoples Initiative to commuters availing of the QC LGU’s Libreng Sakay.

Farmers assert that the economic ChaCha which will allow foreign takeover and ownership of land and vital industries including education mass media and strategic public utilities will cause irreparable damage to the local economy and will further bury Filipinos in unimaginable poverty.

KMP said ChaCha whether through ConAss or ConCom will not benefit Filipinos nor solve the most basic social problems. “All Charter Change attempts will only serve the economic interests of foreign powers and businesses. Marcos Jr and his camp use ChaCha to slip in term extension in the PH Constitution.

“It is the responsibility of every Filipino to be aware of the current situation and oppose Charter Change.”
