Filipino people at the losing end of political tussle between Marcos and Duterte camps — farmers – updates from the peasant movement of the Philippines

The Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) today said the brewing political bickering between the Marcos and Duterte factions only highlights the self-serving interests of the ruling elite and their utter disregard for the Filipino people’s welfare.

“These bouts of word war between the two factions represented by House Speaker Martin Romualdez Jr and VP Sara Duterte are no ordinary squabbles — they are obviously tussling over who gets the bigger share of the confidential and intelligence funds and the national coffers.

“While farmers, workers and even the middle-income section of the population are reeling from the perennial economic crisis, these ranking officials are busy with their quarreling.

KMP called on the public and the Filipino masses not to be mere bystanders in this fight-to-the-death political tussle between Marcos and Duterte and to further assert the people’s demands. #
