On July 20, The Washington Post reported that the AFU had begun using cluster munitions provided by the United States against Russian troops. According to the cited sources, the cluster munitions were fired at Russian positions in the south and east in an attempt to destroy Russian trenches and accelerate Ukrainian advance. According to the report, these munitions will also be used in the area of Artemovsk (former Bakhmut).
Ukrainian military sources also reported that the cluster munitions are used in the Kupyansk region in order to stop Russian advance in the area. Moreover, Ukrainian sources claim that there are no restrictions on the use if foreign weapons and Ukrainian commanders decide how to use them.
