Rallies condemn Trump’s interventions in other countries

A global anti-imperialist organization commemorated the first month since the abduction of Latin American leader Nicolas Maduro with various “people’s actions,” condemning US aggression against Venezuela, Palestine and other parts of the world.

The International League of Peoples Struggles (ILPS) also expressed solidarity with the American people and US immigrants facing worsening atrocities from the Trump regime.

In Manila, ILPS members held a rally near the US Embassy criticizing increased US military presence in the Philippines they say would draw the country into a proxy war against rival China.

The rally came after revelations that the US has formed a new ground force in the country named “Army Rotational Force-Philippines.”

The unit was first publicly revealed following a meeting in Manila between U.S. Army officials and the Marine Rotational Force-Southeast Asia (MRF-SEA) last January 12 to “support security cooperation and advance mutual security objectives shared with Southeast Asian Allies and partners.”

ILPS however said the US is fueling regional instability and places the Philippines in the crosshairs of war and destruction with increasing troop and armaments deployments.

The Hong Kong and Macau chapter of the ILPS denounced North American attacks in Latin America and ongoing claims by President Trump his government is running Venezuela for its oil.

“We have witnessed the desperate plot of US imperialism to regain its position as the number 1 imperial power. This has resulted in serious attacks on the sovereignty of many countries in Latin America, West Asia, and even in Asia Pacific,” the activists said.

ILPS said it has joined condemnation rallies in seven US, three Canadian and 24 other countries worldwide since US forces attacked Venezuela and abducted Maduro and wife Cilia Flores on drug trafficking charges.

The protest actions also expressed continuing support to the resistance in Palestine against continued settlement expansion by Israel with over US support.

Activists also pointed that Trump continues to make “provocative” comments about annexing Greenland and Canada to secure US complete control over the Western Hemisphere.

The White House also released a hostile statement against Cuba, calling it “an unusual and extraordinary threat” and pledging harsher sanctions against the Caribbean country.

In the US itself, Trump’s paramilitary Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) troops continue their violent campaign against migrants that have so far killed citizens, including a legal observer and a medic during protests in Minneapolis.

“The Trump regime now seems like a mad dog in its blatant interference in the economic, political, and military affairs of [other] countries,” ILPS said. #
