Russian Army Launches Strikes Against Kiev Forces, Repels Attacks In Zaphorohey & Donetsk (Videos)

The Russian military launched new missile strikes against Kiev forces and repelled more attacks in the Zaphorohey and Donetsk regions, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on June 23.

In a statement, the ministry said that long-range air-based high-precision missiles struck Ukrainian military depots, including ones where Western-made missiles were stored. No further details on the strikes were provided

The ministry added that the Russian Vostok Group of Forces units, aviation and artillery, repelled three attacks by Kiev forces close to the Vremevka salient in the South Donetsk sector.

Meanwhile, in the direction of Pologi, the activities of two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have been disrupted close to Marfopol.

Kiev forces lost 130 troops, five tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, three armored fighting vehicles, four high-mobility vehicles, two D-20 howitzers and one Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer in the sector, according to the ministry’s statement.

In the Donetsk sector, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled four Ukrainian attacks close to Pervomayskoye, Berdychi and Maryinka. Ukrainian losses there amounted to 90 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three pickup trucks, a D-20 and a Msta-B howitzers.

An ammunition depot of Ukraine’s 118th Territorial Defence Brigade located near Chasov Yar was also destroyed, the ministry said.

The situation in other directions, according to the statement of the Russian MoD:

In Kupyansk direction, as a result of the attacks launched by Army Aviation and artillery, as well as the active operations of the Zapad Group of Forces, the enemy has lost up to 30 Ukrainian servicemen, 2 armored fighting vehicles, 3 motor vehicles and Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled artillery system.

In addition, the actions of 2 Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have been disrupted close to Timkovka (Kharkov region).

In the Krasny Liman direction, aviation and artillery of the Tsentr Group of Forces have hit enemy units near Ploshchanka (Lugansk People’s Republic), and Serebryansky forestry.

The activities of 2 Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have been disrupted close to Yampolovka (Donetsk People’s Republic) and Chervonaya Dibrova (Lugansk People’s Republic).
The enemy losses were up to 90 Ukrainian servicemen, 2 infantry fighting vehicles, 2 armored fighting vehicles, 2 pickup trucks, 2 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems, as well as D-20 and D-30 howitzers.

In Kherson direction, the enemy losses were over 40 Ukrainian servicemen, 4 motor vehicles and 1 U.S.-manufactured M777 artillery system.

Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralized 93 AFU artillery units at their firing positions, manpower and hardware in 102 areas.

Air defense systems have intercepted 4 Tochka-U tactical missiles, as well as 15 HIMARS multiple rocket launch system projectiles and U.S.-manufactured JDAM guided aerial bombs.
In addition, 11 Ukrainian drones have been destroyed close to Spornoye, Lipovoye, Krasnaya Polyana (Donetsk People’s Republic), Akimovka and Kopani (Zaporozhye region).

In total, 444 airplanes, 240 helicopters, 4,751 unmanned aerial vehicles, 426 air defense missile systems, 10,297 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,129 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,204 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 11,126 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.

The Russian MoD also released video footage showing recent attacks with FPV suicide drones against fortified positions of Kiev forces along the front.

Since launching their counteroffensive on June 4, Kiev forces have only captured a few small villages located kilometers away from the Russian military’s first line of defense. These minor gains came at heavy material and human cost for the Ukrainians. Despite the slow advance and heavy losses, the counteroffensive is expected for several more weeks, or even months.
