Russian Su-25 jet crashed into the Sea of Azov in the Krasnodar Kray. The incident took place near the city of Yeysk on the afternoon of July 17.
The pilot ejected and was filmed landing on water about two kilometers from the shore. He was evacuated but medics failed to save his life after he swallowed too much water in an attempt to get rid of his parachute.
The pilot heroically managed to bring the aircraft out of control away from the crowded beach and the city.
Immediately after the incident, Russian military helicopter was seen in the area and the rescuers came to the spot.
The Su-25 crashed during a training flight. Russian military officials claimed that, according to preliminary information, the reason was engine failure.
