On June 3 afternoon, a series of Iraqi airstrikes hit a hideout of ISIS cells in Wadi al-Chai, a valley in the northern province of Kirkuk.

In a statement, the Iraqi Air Force (IQAF) said that the airstrike destroyed the hideout, killing at least six terrorists who were taking shelter inside.

The air force released video footage of the pinpoint airstrikes, which were carried out by F-16IQ fighter jets. The hideout was targeted with at least two precision-guided munitions, most likely 227-kg GBU-12 Paveway II bombs.

This was the third wave of airstrikes by the IQAF to target ISIS cells in less than 48 hours. Between the afternoon of June 2 and June 3 morning, two waves of Iraq airstrikes destroyed a total of four hideouts of the group near Hamrin lake in the eastern province of Diyala, killing seven terrorists.

The IQAF stepped up its combat operations against ISIS in the last few months in cooperation with local intelligence agencies.

Recent airstrikes inflicted serious human and material losses on the terrorist group’s cells in Kirkuk, Diyala and the northern province of Saladin. However, the group is still active in these provinces as well as in the western province of al-Anbar.
