Statement of the ILPSS on the Occassion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
The International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) holds high its fists and flags in honor of the International Day in Solidarity with the People of Palestine. The League calls on all of its members to escalate and strengthen their solidarity actions with the Palestinian people in their historic fight to overthrow the Zionist occupation that wages a genocidal war against them.
The Zionist entity of “Israel” has leveled Gaza into nearly 60 million tons of rubble, burying tens of thousands of people whose bodies are still missing. Around 70,000 have been confirmed killed, while the true number is likely in the hundreds of thousands, with the vast majority being civilians including over 20,000 children. The sheer brutality of the Zionist entity is without end, as all forms of infrastructure, hospitals, energy plants, food production sites, sanitary stations and all aspects of life are eliminated as the means to eliminate the people.
This comes as over 100 Zionist settlements are expanded into the West Bank and Jerusalem leading to land confiscation, destruction of farmland and olive orchards, mass lynch-mob violence with the support of the military, and now full-on threats of annexation of the entire West Bank. Meanwhile, Palestinians in the diaspora face increasing state repression as they fight for their Right to Return.
The ceasefire agreement, won through steadfast force of arms by the Palestinian resistance but violated every day by the Zionist entity, has been used as a new tactic by the US-Zionist forces to combat the persistence of the Palestinian people to remain on their land. With UN Resolution 2803, the US attempts to help the Zionists to liquidate the Palestinian resistance through normalization of the occupation of Gaza, using the militaries of US puppet governments of Arab regimes such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
This is paired with a global strategy to smear the Palestinian resistance in the mass media and criminalize it through the law fair of the courts. The institutions that the imperialists say are for justice are instead used as tools for the most unjust forms of repression and justification for genocide.
Yet despite all of this, the people of Palestine refuse to give up their right to the land and self-determination. Even as they mourn their families and loved ones killed through bullets, bombs, and forced starvation, they hold fast to their right to resist. Not only do the resistance forces refuse to lay down their arms, but all of the people resist through their will to live amongst the nightmare of the genocide. Despite continued aid blockades by the Zionists, farmers use creative means to re-cultivate their land and produce food for the starving population. People from all walks of life work day and night to clear rubble with only their bare hands for any sign of their martyred loved ones. Doctors work with no power and no equipment, refusing to leave their hospitals that are constantly targeted, and choosing to live or die with their patients. While more Palestinian journalists have been killed since October 7 2023 than in both the first and second World Wars combined, they continue to give their lives to the struggle to expose the true conditions of the people on the ground to the world. Teachers use whatever shelters they can find to teach the next generation of Palestinians to be proud defenders of their culture and future.
The people as a whole are determined to win their freedom through struggle, knowing that their unbelievable sacrifice is the price to pay for liberation. As they do so, we are reminded that the Palestinian cause is not the cause of one people alone, but the cause of the whole world, of all humanity. The struggle for a free Palestine is a testament to all the struggles against imperialism, fascism, colonialism, racism, and all forms of reaction.
On this day, the ILPS calls on its members to:
- Organize marches and vigils: in front of official buildings and United Nations headquarters in capitals and major cities, with banners and pictures appropriate to the goals of this day.
- Implement a symbolic global day of fasting: 27-29 November, with the participation of followers of different faiths, to highlight the dangers of the siege and the ongoing famine despite the ceasefire.
- Intensify communication and media through digital campaigns: covering various topics, such as highlighting the results of the war of genocide, supporting legal proceedings against war criminals, and thanking activists active in the solidarity movement.
- Popularize the results of the recently-held International People’s Tribunal on Palestine against the US-Zionist occupation and other complicit governments’ crimes of genocide, ecocide, and forced starvation. Use the results of the Tribunal to hold all national and local governments accountable for their support of the Zionist entity and pressure them to cut all ties. - Adopting a unified slogan: #WithPalestine, and use it as a unified hashtag on social media.
