At noon on June 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) struck the city of Berdyansk in the Zaporozhye region, which is under Russian control. At least three explosions were heard in the city. Two of them were, presumably, the sound of work of Russian air defence systems.
As a result of the attack, a missile hit the sea port in the city of Berdyansk. According to the local authorities, at least nine civilians were wounded. They weer taken to the hospital. There is still no information about the wounded.
According to preliminary data, the AFU used long-range Storm Shadow missiles which were supplied by London. However, the reports are yet to be officially confirmed.
The last Ukrainian attack on Berdyansk took place on May 21. Then, Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles were used. Other Ukrainian missiles were intercepted by the air defense systems.
The sea port in Berdyansk resumed work after the end of the mop up operation on June 30, 2022. Then, the first cargo ship with grain went to sea.
