A Facebook (FB) page posted a video supposedly showing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. singing the viral song “Selos” with other senators. This is false and it carries a link to an e-commerce site.
While the video of Marcos singing with a handful of senators is real, the original audio was replaced with a song that has been removed from streaming platforms because of copyright infringement.
Cursory search shows the original clip came from a video uploaded by Sen. Miguel “Migz” Zubiri on Aug. 7, 2022 during the 50th birthday celebration of Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara.
As shown in the four-minute FB video, Zubiri invited Marcos to sing “You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling” by The Righteous Brothers along with other members of the Senate.
Among those who sang with Marcos were senators Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, Mark Villar, Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada, Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian, Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, and Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
The erroneous video carried a link allegedly containing a second part of Marcos and the senators singing.
This is a bait to make people click on an affiliate link of an e-commerce site, allowing the video uploader to earn a commission through product sales.
Posted by FB page Home baby, the video has one million views, 9,990 reactions, 2,700 comments, and 4,082 shares.
The video appeared two days after the song ‘Selos’ by Filipino Muslim singer Shaira was voluntarily removed from streaming platforms due to copyright concerns.
