Statement of the ILPS Europe Regional Committee
The International League of People’s Struggle in Europe strongly condemns the escalation of the US-Zionist led military attacks on Iran, plunging West Asia into chaos and exposing its peoples to unprecedented death and destruction.
Trump’s sham “Board of Peace” and preemptive strikes narrative, which is regurgitated by mainstream media outlets cannot hide the truth. This joint strike orchestrated by US imperialism and its Zionist attack dogs proves once again that they are the most dangerous, utterly fascist and genocidal forces in the world today.
With the on-going genocide in Gaza, the violent regime change in Syria that has allowed the Israeli military access to its territory, and the unrelenting attacks on Lebanon among other destabilizing offensives in the region, there can be no doubt as to the US-Zionist agenda of establishing “Greater Israel” and redrawing the map of West Asia to ensure their unchallenged access to the region’s resources.
The US-Israel axis poses the biggest threat to peace, stability, and democracy in West Asia and in the world. By exporting their wars of aggression, the US is dragging the world into war and offering the lives of innocent people as collateral damage in conflicts not of their own making.
The presence of military bases in colonies and neo-colonies trap countries like Cyprus in colonial-era arrangements that compel them to accommodate these military infrastructures in their country, like the presence of British bases in Akrotiri and Dhekelia. Thus, these countries are used as launching pads to advance the hegemonic ambitions of the US-Zionist project in the region, undermining the genuine sovereignty of nations and the self-determination of peoples.
ILPS Europe condemns the complicity of the European Union in this unjust and immoral war. The joint statement issued by France, Germany and the United Kingdom states their intention to work with the U.S. – ‘to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region’ – and their readiness to further escalate the war.
The UK has allowed the US to use their military bases while France will bolster its military presence in the Middle East by bringing in its aircraft carriers. Germany is accused of giving the butcher Netanyahu a safe haven.
This joint statement demonstrates once again that despite recent tensions and disagreements over NATO and Greenland, in the end, the interests of Europe are in alignment with that of the US and Israel.
Furthermore, by being quiet spectators, other European countries are allowing these attacks to continue in clear violation of international laws. Their lack of condemnation for this unjustifiable war encourages this US-Zionist war of aggression and genocide to be waged with impunity on innocent peoples.
Iran is fighting an existential battle to live in peace, defend its people, assert its sovereignty and its right to chart its own future and determine its path of development without any foreign intervention.
ILPS Europe stands steadfast in its solidarity and support for the people of Iran as they resist this imperialist aggression and intervention in defense of their sovereignty. ILPS Europe calls on all its members to take to the streets and join millions of peace and genuinely democratic loving peoples in building a formidable front against this inhumane US-Zionist led war in Iran, in Palestine and everywhere else where US imperialism rears its ugly head.
