On April 21, preliminary reports claimed that Russian forces had cut the main road used for the supply of the Ukrainian grouping in the western part of Bakhmut. Russian fighters reportedly took control of about 500 meters of the road to Chasov Yar west of Khromovo.
However, the preliminary reports were not officially confirmed. The fierce battles continue along the road, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to prevent their enemies from gaining a foothold.

The stellite imagery shows destroyed Ukrainian columns left on the road near Khromovo. Ukrainian trenches are also heavily shelled by Russian artillery. Field roads between Khromovo and Ivanovskoe were also badly damaged by the rains and artillery.
Russian fighters are yet to cut the road and secure their positions. At the same time, the Ukrainian military continues loosing fighters in heavy battles near the road. They are defending the vehicles which are also destroyed by Russian artillery.
