As of the first half of May 12, reports appeared that units of Kyiv’s forces have carried out several attacks on positions of Russian units at the contact line in Zaporozhie Region and in the Lyman area in Donetsk Region. There have been no precise video and photo evidence confirming a large-scale offensive of the Kyiv regime in these directions. Despite this, the situation there remains tense.
The Russian Defense Ministry reports that the general situation is under control:
The statements spread by individual telegram channels about ‘defence breakthroughs’ in various sections of the line of contact are not true.
As of 22:00 on 11 May 2023, in Kupyansk direction there are no active operations. The Zapad Group of Forces suppressed the actions of three enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
In Krasny Liman direction, the Tsentr Group of Forces repulsed two attacks by the enemy company tactical groups close to Kremennaya and Chervonaya Dibrova.
In Donetsk direction, three enemy reconnaissance attempts were thwarted and eight attacks by the AFU against Russian positions were successfully repelled.
Assault units continue to liberate the western part of Artyomovsk with air and artillery support.
Units of the Yug Group of Forces are actively engaged in blocking Avdeevka and capturing Maryinka.
The battle is currently under the way to repel an attack by the AFU unit in the direction of Maloilyinovka. Army and Ground-Assault aviation, as well as artillery are in combat. The enemy suffers significant losses in manpower and hardware.
In Zaporozhye and Kherson directions, there are no active operations.
The general situation in the area of the special military operation is under control.
The intensification of actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in around Zaporozhie and Lyman came amid the further clashes in the town of Bakhmut and on its flanks. Media outlets close to PMC Wagner claim that Kyiv’s forces were able to achieve tactical successes against the Russian Armed Forces north and south of Bakhmut.
The most intense fighting is allegedly ongoing on the northern edge of Khromovo and south of the village of Ivanivskie. The situation with the recent gains of the Kyiv regime west of Kleshevka remains unclear. As of now, it looks that Ukrainian units were able to secure their tactical advances there.
Meanwhile, MSM speculates that Ukrainian forces have begun “shaping” operations in advance of their highly-promoted counteroffensive, citing various anonymous ‘senior US and Western officials’.
“Shaping involves striking targets such as weapons depots, command centers and armor and artillery systems to prepare the battlefield for advancing forces. It’s a standard tactic made prior to major combined operations,” CNN claimed in one of such reports.
No doubts that if the highly-promoted Ukrainian ‘counter-offensive’ against Russian forces will achieve no real results, MSM, Western diplomats and their Kyiv puppets will claim that the counter-offensive is still yet to happen.
