On May 2, 2023, the head of the Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin claimed that the commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Igor Tantsyura, was likely killed by Russian forces in the Bakhmut region.
At 1.25 p.m. local time, artillery units of the Wagner PMCs destroyed an armored vehicle on the road to Bakhmut. The incident took place near the town of Chasov Yar.
“At the moment we are clarifying this information,” added Prigozhin.
