IN PHOTOS: Peasant organizations and advocates from Southern Tagalog, Central Luzon, Bicol, Negros, and other regions converge at the University of the Philippines, University Avenue as part of the “Salubungan” and torch march.
The “Salubungan” is symbol of their pledge to continue on the struggle for genuine land reform in the country.
“Genuine land reform and just distribution of land to the tillers is the most basic solution, not only to the food and agricultural crisis but also to the economic recession and the semi-colonial and semi-feudal system in the Philippines,” said Jojo Doroja, Chairperson of Katipunan ng mga Samahang Magbubukid sa Timog Katagalugan (KASAMA-TK).
