Israeli attacks followed Hezbollah’s missile shelling earlier in the day on the Israeli military site of Al-Jardah near the Lebanese border, which, according to Hezbollah, caused “many” casualties among the Israeli forces.

Hezbollah said in a statement that the operation was a response to Israeli attacks on Monday, which led to the deaths of three Hezbollah members.

The situation on the Lebanese-Israeli border escalated after Hezbollah on Sunday morning fired tens of rockets toward Israeli military sites in support of Hamas, prompting the Israeli forces to respond by firing heavy artillery at several areas in southeast Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz, an opposition leader and former defense minister, announced the formation of “an emergency unity government” amid the fierce conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has taken a heavy toll on both sides as it enters the fifth day. The death toll of the Palestinians rose to 1,078, while the number of fatalities in Israel reached at least 1,200.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said on Wednesday that four of its paramedics were killed during Israeli airstrikes on Gaza.
