Tinio calls on Marcos to pay teachers’ 2024 ‘thank you bonus’ in full

ACT Teachers Rep. Antonio Tinio called on the Ferdinand Marcos Jr. government to pay in full the 2024 Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) owed public school teachers and Department of Education (DepEd) employees.

House Deputy Minority Leader Tinio said the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has yet to release the full amount to teachers and education employees as “accounts payable.”

The progressive lawmaker revealed that the benefit, which should amount to ₱20,000, has only been paid in installments, with teachers receiving a maximum of only ₱14,500 to date.

Referred to as a “thank you bonus” to all government employees, the SRI is a cash bonus or one-time payment given as a token of appreciation for their “hard work, dedication, and contributions to achieving national development goals.”

Tinio however pointed out that while most other government employees have already received their SRI before the end of 2025, DepEd personnel have yet to receive their full SRI.

Tinio urged the DBM to expedite the processing and release of the remaining balance so that teachers can receive the complete ₱20,000 amount they are entitled to.

“Ibigay na po ng buo (sa) mga teachers natin at mga kawani ng DepEd,” Tinio said. #
