Military Overview Of Situation In Ukraine On April, 7 2023: U.S. Arms Ukraine For Spring Counteroffensive

Wagner in Bakhmut

The situation on the line of the Russian-Ukrainian clash has not changed much over the past 24 hours. The fiercest fighting is taking place in the city of Bakhmut and the surrounding settlements.

In the city center, Russian assault squads were able to advance to the police station, dislodging the AFU from their previously held defensive positions. In addition, fighting is going on for the Atlantik Hotel, the seizure of which will allow taking the Metallurg Stadium, where a large AFU unit has settled very tightly, into pincers.

In the areas of Orekhovo-Vasilevka and Bogdanivka, offensive operations by the Wagner PMCs also continue. Strikes were carried out against AFU positions in the areas of Vasyukovka, Novomarkovo, Krasnoye, Chasov Yar and Dyleevka.

At present, there are no signs of Ukrainian troops withdrawing from the city. Ukrainian troops have organized defenses inside the city – first along the railroad, then in the area of high-rise buildings in the west. According to Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner PMC, in case of withdrawal from Bakhmut, the enemy will take up defenses on the approaches to the city and in the area of Chasov Yar.

Fighting also continues in the Donetsk area. The Russian Armed Forces, supported by aircraft, continue to engage the enemy in the center of Marinka. Using guided aerial bombs and tanks, Russian units do not allow the enemy to counterattack. However, at the moment, the presence of the AFU in fortified areas does not allow the Russian Armed Forces and the Wagner PMC to develop their offensive.

Ukrainian formations once again shelled the Donetsk agglomeration and other populated areas of the republic. In the Kalininsky district of Donetsk, a strike from HIMARS rocket launchers damaged a car repair base: nine people were killed and more than ten wounded. Yasinovataya, Horlivka, Vladimirovka and Nikolskoye also came under fire.

There are no significant changes in the Starobelsky section of the front. The sides are engaged in positional battles and artillery duels. Ukrainian formations shelled Lysychansk with artillery: three people were killed, one was wounded, and a civilian bus was damaged.

Destruction of a Ukrainian tank near Lisichansk:

In the Zaporizhzhya direction, there were no particular changes. During the night, Ukrainian formations shelled Melitopol with HIMARS MLRS, but Russian air defenses managed to intercept all the shells.

Along the line of contact near Kherson, artillery duels continue: the Russian Armed Forces hit AFU facilities in Kherson, while Ukrainians shelled Novaya Kakhovka, Kakhovka, Hornostaevka and Cairo.

Documents are appearing online about a secret plan to prepare and equip the US and NATO nine brigades of the AFU for the spring offensive.

These are the 21st, 32nd, 33rd, 37th, 47th, 117th, 118th, 46th and 82nd brigades. Six of them should be ready by March 31 and three by April 30. The total number of weapons required for the nine brigades is 253 tanks, 381 tracked vehicles, 480 wheeled vehicles, 147 artillery pieces, and 571 armored HMMWVs. Kiev is also training three more brigades.

Documents on the weaponry and alleged offensive of the AFU

According to these plans, the main blow is planned to be struck in the Zaporizhzhya direction. It is for this purpose that the arming of Ukrainian units is carried out.

If the plan is implemented, by May the AFU will be ready to conduct offensive operations against our troops with 12 brigades.
