Earth Island Institute-Philippines is inviting groups and individuals to join its next coastal clean and nature walk on April 19 at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park.
To be held on the Sunday prior to Earth Day on April 22, the annual activity aims to help protect one of the country’s important coastal and migratory bird habitats and the vital in sprawling metropolitan Manila.
Earth Island Institute-Philippines said the activity is part of its Earth Day 2026 campaign under the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.”
Located beside massive reclamation and road projects, the wetland park constantly faces threats from encroachment and pollution.
It is the first critical habitat established in the country through several proclamations. It is an area around 114 hectares of mudflats and mangrove areas that are home to about 5,000 birds per day, including 80 bird species.
The Philippine Duck (Anas luzonica) and Chinese Egret (Egretta eulophotes) are two of the most endangered bird species that call the park home.

“[S]mall actions can create waves of change for our oceans and coastal ecosystems. Let’s work together to remove waste from the shoreline and learn more about the wetland ecosystem that helps protect marine biodiversity,” the Institute said.
