On the night of May 13, Russian forces launched new wave of massive strikes throughout Ukraine. LINK Ukrainian authorities  confirmed damage to critical infrastructure in several regions. The areas of accumulation of Ukrainian troops in the Bakhmut, as well as warehouses with ammunition and other military equipment in the central and western regions of Ukraine were hit.

According to preliminary data, the Russian military used missiles and strike UAVs. Iranian-made Geranium UAVs were reportedly the main strike force today.

By the morning, more details on the Russian attack were revealed.

Russian forces reached their targets in Western Ukraine for the first time recently, damage was confirmed by Ukrainian officials in the deep rear. Air alert sounded in Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, Lviv, Volyn and Rivne regions. Later, it was heard in all other regions.

Explosions thundered in the Khmelnytsky region in Western Ukraine. The local authorities reported Russian strikes and urged civilians to stay in their shelters. Later, they confirmed that a facility of critical infrastructure was attacked. According to the Ukrainian officials the facility is located outside the city or other settlements.

However, videos shared by the locals confirmed that the target was located in the city. Judging by the footage from the city, the target was the instrument making plant Neva. The facility produced radio engineering systems, equipment for airfields and aircraft.

Secondary detonation was reportedly heard for several hours in the area. Local residents reported that more than 10 large explosions thundered at the enterprise. Military warehouses of the AFU where NATO’s ammunition, UAVs and other weapons could be stored were likely destroyed on the territory of the plant.

 

 

 

 

Ukrainian media also reported strikes in the south-western part of the city, where the Cation plant is located in the industrial zone. According to preliminary data, another warehouse of the AFU was destroyed.

Ukrainian Railways reported that due to the shelling in the Khmelnytskyi region, railway traffic was temporarily restricted, some trains were sent along a bypass route. This means that the strikes also damaged the critical transport infrastructure.

Explosions were also reported in the Stryi district in the Lviv region, where a large number of workshops and enterprises are located. Deputy of the Lviv City Council also reported that Ukrainian air defences were working over the capital of the region Lviv.

Ukrainian authorities confirmed that Russian forces hit the targets in the city of Mykolaiv in the Mykolaiv region in southern Ukraine. The head of the regional military administration said that after the strike several fires broke out. One of them damaged a five—story house. A fire also broke out at one of the enterprises. Three people were injured.

The footage shared from the spot confirmed that large explosions thundered in the region and that some building were damaged. However, photos shared by Ukrainian authorities did not reveal what facility was damaged. The targets are yet to be identified.

Last night, the first explosions were heard in the cities of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, where a large Ukrainian grouping is deployed. Reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and warehouses with weapons to supply the front were likely destroyed.

Russian forces continue to destroy Ukrainian military infrastructure in the Zaporozhie and Dnepropetrovsk regions, preventing the Ukrainian military from transfering military supplies to the front. Explosions near the cities of Zaporozhie and Dnepropetrovsk are thundering on a daily basis.

Last night, Russian strikes hit the military facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Chernobayevka, Kherson region and Gulyai-Pole, Zaporozhye region. The head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak reported that 15 strikes hit in the central district of Gulyai-Pole, but what was the target in the city he did not reveal.

A military facility was also hit in Chernobayevka in the Kherson region. Adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Daria Zarivnaya reported that a missile strike was carried out on the settlement, as a result of which there are wounded.

The secret of explosions heard in the capital is yet to be revealed. At night, air alert sounded in the Kiev region. According to Ukrainian media, explosions were heard in the city of Kiev and in the region. Several explosions were heard in the Solomenskiy district of Kiev. However, no other details were provided.

Kiev officials later reported that an ambulance car caught fire near the Alexander Hospital located in the Pechora district. The car likely exploded. After the fire was liquidated, a woman’s corpse was found; another woman received burns.

The reason of the explosion is unknown. However, some sources supposed that it could be a result of the work of Ukrainian air defence systems, which are allegedly intercepting “100% of their targets”, according to Kiev officials.
