VOICE OF THE MILITANT AND PROGRESSIVE FILIPINOS

Freedom for the people of Myanmar

The ILPS-AP condemns the Myanmar junta for its decision to continue military rule, as the military regime announced a 6-month delay in general elections. The junta has given power to Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the leader of the coup d’etat that was launched against Aung San Suu Kyi last February 1, 2021.

For more than 2 years now, Myanmar’s people have been under a brutal military regime, with almost three thousand having been killed, and more than 18,000 arrested for fighting against the junta and demanding democracy and civil liberties. The regime expanded its atrocities against the people of Myanmar through the expansion of its military attacks, including the dropping of bombs on the population.

The Tatmadaw, the military junta, despised by the Myanmar people remains financially afloat, as they continue to reap funds from businesses owned and or controlled by the military, mainly from Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC), Myanmar Economic Holdings Limited (MEHL), Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE). Exposes from various news outlets have shown connections between transnational corporations (TNCs) and the Tatmadaw through these business conglomerates, including the relationship between French energy company Total and the energy companies owned by the Tatmadaw.

Resistance against the junta continues to mushroom across Myanmar, within the main population centers, and in rural areas where opposition to the military regime has taken an armed component.

All freedom-loving people of the world must take notice and support the struggle of the people of Myanmar against the brutal regime of the generals led by Min Aung Hlaing. Onward to genuine democracy and freedom!
