IBON executive director on EO 50 extending lower tariffs on rice, corn and meat products

December 27, 2023

IBON executive director on EO 50 extending lower tariffs on rice, corn and meat products:

"The Marcos administration’s over-reliance on imported food even when El Niño still hasn’t hit and affected supplies is among the things stifling domestic agricultural production and self-sufficiency.

Protecting agriculture and improving productivity such as by investing in more efficient irrigation, drought-resistant crops and sustainable farming techniques is a better response to El Niño."
